The Catcher in The Rye

So far the book The Cather In The Rye has been interesting and it makes you question a lot. While Holden is narrating he usually says something and goes into that little subject and then goes back to explaining. The author makes Holden think a lot about how life is going on and of his past life. Sometimes in the book when he is thinking or talking I question some of it, because the things Holden says aren't very typical.
Now that I am further in the book Holden has left his school Pencey and has travel around a lot in the short period of time. First he check himself out in a hotel to have a place to rest and leave his few belongings he had brought from Pencey. Later Holden started going to restaurants and take drink even though he was a minor and tried flirting with some women but wasn't very successful. Holden kept himself busy but he kept saying he felt depressed and alone because he'd always keep thinking what his parent reaction would be when they found out that he was kicked out of school again. All of this shows that the conflict is clearly man vs. self because of his lack to work harder and avoiding his parents, he is scared of the outcome.

The Giver (Play)

My thoughts on this is how pretty well it was set out even though it was shortened for the play, it was good. It didn't quite really finish as good but over all it was fine for a play it only went into one character bit more which was Jonas the main character. An idea I have to make this play better than it is at the moment is to add more detail. The reason why I think it should have more is because at the end it kind of leaves you hanging with question about the story and what happened next because it feels like it wasn't completed. Usually after a play you feel satisfied about the ending because you know it's the true ending but for this play it didn't.
The Giver was about futuristic place where most things were banned to keep order it's a utopian/dystopian society. There are persons who pick your job, your husband/wife, and what you eat etc. In their society they can't dance, listen to music, have feelings, or  see colors. Jonas is chosen as Receiver of Memory and The Giver had that job previously and is now giving him his memories of what the world use to be like. Jonas feels the world they are in now is unfair and not correct that the world they had before and decides to make things different.

Summary and Point of View

While reading the book The Catcher in The Rye I have come to realize how this story may be developing. Who is the main character? The main character is Holden Caulfield. Where the story is taking place so far is in Pencey the school he is going to. It also is in New York now that he has left Pencey earlier since he was being kicked out because he was failing four of his courses. The reason why Holden is failing is because of lack of interest into his education, he honestly didn't mind leaving the school. The time this book is taking place in is the 1940s which was quite along time ago but fits the setting appropriately.
The point of view of this story I am reading is first person. The reason why I know the point of view is because the character Holden speaks on what he sees and his opinions there is never anybody else opinion being expressed by themselves. Also another reason why I know this is first person because the words be used all the time like “I”. A sentence that shows “The reason I was standing day up on Thomsen Hill, instead of down at the game, was because I’d just got back from New York with the fencing team.”  There is nothing particular that I don’t like of this P.O.V I think this is my most favorite P.O.V to read. I wouldn’t want this book to be another P.O.V because it would’t be the same and all of his thoughts wouldn’t be described so thoroughly.

The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight

(Summary and Character Analysis)

This book was really catching and I got hooked to it instantly. Just thinking that this whole book took place through 24 hour period is incredible how the author went so deep into detail and have so many pages in the book. The characters interact quickly and even though they start having feelings for each other really quickly in the book it felt like it progressed slowly the way the author organized it and that was great. The author does go deep into Hadley’s feelings in the book about her problems with dealing with her parents separation and how her father is getting remarried. Basically, Hadley met Oliver because she missed her flight from New York to London where her father’s new life was at and he was set to be married there. Hadley and Oliver’s conversation flowed easily with no awkwardness. This book was very nicely written and very hooking I enjoyed every bit of it and how the author was so descriptive to make it seem like this wasn't just in a 24 hour period.
While reading the book I realized the character Hadley's traits. The traits the author gave Hadley was how she was determined in her own reasoning and very persistent. Other traits Hadley's character carried was how she was not shy, and doesn't hold back her thoughts. Hadley's thoughts may have been biased but through out the book when she things more clearly she matures, and changes her thoughts on her new stepmother. Even though Hadley isn't very fond of her father's fiance because her father had an affair with her before he divorced Hadley's mother.

Lemon Brown Blog

My reaction to this story is seeing how humble it was, that Lemon Brown told Greg that every man has it treasure meaning weather rich or poor everybody has their own special belonging. With this story I can connect with what we learn is how Lemon Brown is homeless and the reason why he got there. Lemon Brown became homeless because one he was a harmonica player and he was successful one to until his wife died, and then his son was sent to war who also died. What I found interesting of this story is even through what Lemon Brown was going through he still had lessons to teach Greg lessons Greg would cherish. Greg changed mainly at the end once the past event he went through with Lemon and what he told Greg when his son was being sent to war he had nothing worth giving except letting his son know who he was and where he came from. It is something to value and Greg was ready to hear his dad's lecture now.
